OT Fitness – a fantastic way to engage all kids no matter what their fitness level.
After sending out invitations to local Catholic and public Elementary schools in the hope of getting a full complement of 6 schools for the grade 7-8 competition. Craig McLaughlin (Physical Education Teacher at Holy Trinity) was inundated with request to include the grade 4-5-6. Although the funding secured from Athletics Ontario was to cover the cost of the grade 7-8 Team Competition, OT Fitness extended the competition to accommodate the younger student in the afternoon.
After a 2 year break from hosting the event the OT Fitness staff did their best to contend with a number of challenges:
All in all the morning was really exciting. We saw 4 Catholic schools running, jumping and throwing their way around the gymnasium in the hope of winning a spot at the Ontario Championships on April 3, 2014 in Toronto at L’Amoreaux Collegiate Institute.
St. Paul's - First Place with a combined team score of 726 points
St. James - Second Place with a combined team score of 708 points
St. Monica's - Tied Third Place with a combined team score of 690 points
St. Charles - Tied Third Place with a combined team score of 690 points
The afternoon event was filed with screams and shouts of encouragements with school team coming as far north as Barrie to participate.
St. Monica's - First Place with a combined team score of 888 points
St. Charles - Second Place with a combined team score of 870 points
Marie of the Incarnation - Third Place with a combined team score of 816 points
St. James - Fourth Place with a combined team score of 784 points
St. Paul's - Fifth Place with a combined team score of 726 points
Sir William Osler - Fifth Place with a combined team score of 726 points
both events were filled with excitmet and lots cheering. All the team members were well supported and agood time was had by all Regardless of the results.
